Our StoryChesterfield’s Casual Fine Dining was opened by Mike and Rita Ford in 1981 as Dale’s Steakhouse. After a fire destroyed the building, it was reopened on the corner of Hardy Street and Highway 49 in Hattiesburg, MS as Chesterfield’s Casual Fine Dining. In 2002, Chesterfield’s caught fire again and was completely destroyed. Local businessman and then owner of Cane Creek Seafood Restaurant, Chris Happ bought the property and the rights to Chesterfield’s. In January of 2003, Chesterfield’s Casual Fine Dining was reopened and continued to operate in its historic location for almost 30 years until June of 2010, when the property was bought by CVS. In October of 2011, the Chesterfield's in Hattiesburg reopened in a brand new building located at 4646 Highway 98 West, where it continues to serve the same great favorites, along with some new dishes which are sure to please.
In February 2008, Chris Happ and Brent Belsom began a business partnership. In December of 2010, Chesterfield’s Bar & Grill opened at 1300 Gause Blvd, Slidell, LA. This is Chesterfield’s second location and the only location currently operating until the flagship store located in Hattiesburg, MS is built and reopened.

Chesterfield’s Owners are present daily in the restaurant preparing homemade favorites with fresh, quality ingredients. Our menu has a tremendous variety from Homemade Soups, Fresh Salads, Handcut Steaks, Babyback Ribs, Fresh Gulf Seafood, Burgers, Poboys, and Pastas. We also have many desserts which are sure to please, such as the award winning Southern Fried Pecan Pie.
Chris Happ (Owner) – Originally from Illinois and currently resides in Picayune, MS. Chris has been in the restaurant industry for over 25 years. He has worked on the corporate level for many well known restaurant concepts.
Brent Belsom (Owner) – Brent is from New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1998. He attended The University of Southern Mississippi and in 2002 graduated with a Hospitality Management Degree. In 2003, he helped Chris Happ re-open and manage Chesterfield’s Casual Fine Dining. In 2005, Brent left Chesterfield’s to pursue other interests in the Oil and Gas Industry. In 2008, he entered into partnership with Chris Happ in another business venture and ultimately in December of 2010 they opened the Chesterfield’s location on Gause Blvd in Slidell.
Brent has approximately 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry and currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana while serving as the Managing Partner operating the Slidell location.
